Description

This milepost, located in front of No. 214 on Wickersley Road, dates from the second half of the 19th century and was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. It is constructed from cast iron and is fixed on a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel indicates "ROTHERHAM & BARNBY MOOR / ROAD / WHISTON." The left side shows "ROTHERHAM / 2 MILES," while the right side displays "BARNBY / MOOR / 15 MILES / BAWTRY / 12 1/4 MILES / TICKHILL / 9 MILES."
