Description
This is a milepost located approximately 160 metres north-west of the junction with Gypsy Lane, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. The milepost is constructed from cast iron and is fixed on a gritstone pillar. It features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "ROTHERHAM & BARNBY MOOR / ROAD / YEWS." The left side indicates "ROTHERHAM / 8 MILES," while the right side shows "BARNBY / MOOR / 9 MILES."
