Description
This is a milepost from the second half of the 19th century, made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. It is constructed from cast iron and is fixed on a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads: "ROTHERHAM & BARNBY MOOR / ROAD / ROTHERHAM." On the left side, it indicates distances to Barnby Moor (16 miles), Bawtry (13 1/4 miles), and Tickhill (10 miles). On the right side, it shows that Rotherham College Square is 1 mile away.
