Description

This is a milepost from the second half of the 19th century, made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. It is constructed from cast iron and is fixed against a wall. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel indicates "ROTHERHAM & PLEASLEY / ROAD / WHISTON." The left side displays distances to Mansfield (20 1/4 miles), Pleasley (17 1/4 miles), and Clown (9 3/4 miles), while the right side shows the distance to Rotherham (3 miles).
