Description
Milepost opposite Nos 85 and 87 is a milepost from the second half of the 19th century, made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. It is constructed from cast iron and fixed onto a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "BAWTRY & TINSLEY ROAD WHISTON." The left side indicates distances to Sheffield (6 miles) and Tinsley (2 miles), while the right side lists Barnby Moor (17 1/4 miles), Bawtry (15 miles), and Tickhill (11 1/4 miles).
