Description
The milestone at Roseworthy Hill, dating from around 1839, is a dressed and painted granite structure located on the southern side of an unclassified road, formerly the A30, 415 meters east by southeast of Little Connerton. The base of the milestone is set into the hedge bank. It features a triangular shaft topped with a broken pyramidal cap that protrudes from the hedge bank. The panels of the milestone are incised with 38mm (1½ inch) high letters in sans serif capital script. The eastern panel reads "HAYLE 3 MILES PENZANCE 11 LANDS END 21," while the western panel states "CAMBORNE 3 MILES REDRUTH 6 TRURO 15." The triangular shaft shows some wear at the edges, is painted white, and the letters are highlighted in black, with the 'C' of Camborne having been re-inscribed on the worn front edge. This milestone is also marked in its current location on the Ordnance Survey 1:10560 map from 1888.
