Description

This stable and adjoining stile, located approximately 45 metres west-southwest of Higher Porthmeor Farmhouse, dates from around the mid-19th century. It features granite rubble walls with granite dressings and an asbestos slate roof with gable ends, which was originally covered with scantle slate. The building has a rectangular plan with an entrance in the middle of the northwest front, likely with stalls at either end inside. The exterior is single storey and symmetrical, boasting a central ledged door flanked by small square windows under the eaves, each with original shuttered windows and a three-pane overlight. The grid stile is located to the left of the stable. This structure is part of an unspoiled coastal hamlet situated within the ancient field system of this area of Cornwall.
