Description
The boundary pier located at NGR SZ07789359 is a boundary marker dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of brick with stone capping and inset panels. The pier is built in English bond, measuring approximately 600mm square and standing 1.75 meters high. It is set on a plinth made of brick, which is partially concealed by a later pavement level. The stone capping features a moulded edge and has a much worn, weathered top.
On the east face of the pier, there is a stone panel with a sunk center inscribed with "PARISH OF HOLDENHURST," while the west face has a similar panel inscribed with "COUNTY OF DORSET." The brickwork and capping appear to be older than the panels, which may be 19th century replacements for worn originals. This marker remains in place near Talbot Manor despite significant road works and realignment in the surrounding area.
