Description

This is a stone gate pier located on the roadside in Doulting, dating from the 18th century. It is made of dressed stone and tapers to a height of approximately 1.5 meters. The pier features the remains of an iron staple on the roadside and a mortise for another staple. It marks the boundary between the former Frome and Shepton Mallet Turnpike Trusts.
