Description
This is a barn located in the farmyard to the west of Beacon Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. The barn is constructed of rubble with dressed quoins and features coped verges topped with ball finials, and it has roofs made of corrugated iron and slate. It stands two storeys high and has two small windows on the first floor, both with stone surrounds, along with two breathers also in stone surrounds. The central door opening is framed by a dressed stone surround and features a divided plank door, with a flight of stone steps leading up to it and a dog-kennel underneath. On the ground floor, there are two segmental arch openings in dressed stone surrounds, one of which is part blocked. Additionally, there is a single-light window and a two-light stone-mullioned window. To the left, there is a further blocked door opening in a freestone surround. The barn is part of an enclosure landscape that was formed in the 18th century, while the attached farm buildings are not of special interest.
