Description
No. 122 Wallisdown Road is a picturesque cottage built around 1850. It is constructed from red brick and features a ground floor and semi-attic design. The building is arranged in an L shape, positioned diagonally to the road, and has a lean-to timber verandah-porch that spans the angle of the L, although the door is now blocked. The cottage has mullioned casement windows with diamond lattice glazing. It boasts steeply pitched roofs adorned with ornamental scalloped tiles arranged in bands alongside ordinary tiles, with overhanging eaves and plain bargeboards. At the rear (north-west), there is a lean-to structure with a single-storey wing that projects at right angles, featuring two different heights. The gable ends have canted bays with hipped roofs on the ground floor, while the first-floor gables are blind. The cottage also has 2-light windows in other locations and a pair of diagonally set chimneystacks on the ridge. This building is part of a group of listed buildings along Wallisdown Road and Columbia Road.
