Description
The stable block at Hurn Court likely has a Tudor core but features alterations and additions from the early 19th century. It is divided into two sections, with the southern part adjoining the north-west side of the house. The building is constructed of red brick and has a parapet and coped gables with ball finials at each end of the facade. It has an old tiled roof and features a slender octagonal clock tower that rises from ground level in front of the central section. The facade is rendered and includes a slender angle buttress, a blocking course, a parapet, and a domed cupola with a bell. The stable block is two storeys high, with one window in each gable end, featuring casements with dripstone moulds. A modern brick colonnade is located in front of the building.
To the north, an adjoining block forms three sides of a courtyard. This section is also made of red brick, featuring an eaves cornice and a coped gable end with a kneeler to the south, while the north end is hipped. The roof is tiled with stone slate verges, and octagonal rendered chimneys rise from the plinth. This part of the stable block is one and a half storeys high, with a gable in the center of each facade and two dormers on each side. Some ground floor windows are round-arched, with a Venetian window located below the gable, all featuring casements. There are also modern additions to the structure. The listed buildings in the grounds of Hurn Court form a group.
