Description

HURN 1. 5187 Stable block at Hurn Court SZ 19 NW 8/352 22.5.75.

II GV

  1. Probably Tudor core, but early C19 alterations and additions. In 2 parts. Southern section adjoins north-west side of house. Red brick With parapet and coped gable with ball finial at each end of facade. Old tiled roof. Slender octagonal clock tower rises from ground level in front of centre section. Rendered facade, slender angle buttress, blocking course, parapet and domed cupola with bell. 2 storeys. 1 window in each gable end, casements with dripstone moulds. Modern brick colonnade in front. To north, adjoining block forms 3 sides of a courtyard. Red brick with eaves cornice and coped gable end with kneeler to south;- north end hipped. Tiled roof with stone slate verges. Octagonal rendered chimneys rise from plinth. 1 1/2 storeys with gable in centre of each facade and 2 dormers on each side. Some ground floor windows round arched with Venetian window below gable - all casements. Modern additions.
