Description
Throop Flour Mills, also known as Parsons and Sons, is a well-preserved red brick mill dating from around 1850. The building features a continuous roof ridge and consists of a mixed 2- and 3-storey block. The main front faces west, with the north end being 3-storeys tall and 2 windows wide, all with segment-headed arches. The hoist bay includes bull-nosed blue brick dressings around the doorway and first-floor opening, and it has a gabled, weatherboarded housing for the hoist supported on brackets. The south end of the building is 2-storeys high and 3 windows wide. The roof is tiled and includes inset skylights. There is a low single-storey extension to the south, which is a modern garage. The northern end of the mill is located near Ringwood and Fordingbridge Road.
