Description

An 18th century or earlier mill and part of a mill house are situated on Silver Street in Hordle. The mill itself is constructed of red brick with a tiled roof, half-hipped at the west end. It is two storeys high, featuring one window on the upper floor and two loft doors, alongside four windows and a doorway on the ground floor. A mill race runs beneath an arch at the rear of the mill. Original hoisting and gearing mechanisms remain inside. To the east of the mill is a single-bay, red brick section dating back to the 18th century. This is two storeys high, with a hipped gable at the front. The remaining portion of the mill house is a later construction, roughly rendered with a hipped slate roof, and is two storeys high with four bays. The front features a central doorway with a flat, bracketed hood.
