Description
South Lodge is a late 19th-century lodge, originally built for A T T Peterson, with substantial 20th-century extensions. The original section is constructed from mass concrete, built in "lifts," while the extensions are of rendered blockwork. The lodge has a single storey and a three-bay frontage onto the road, with a two-bay frontage along Sway Flexford Lane, attached to an original outbuilding range at the rear. The road-facing facade includes 20th-century two-light windows in each bay. A heavy cornice starts at the left-hand corner and runs along the first two bays. The roof is hipped, with a central ridge stack; it is likely the original roof was flat concrete. To the right is a three-bay wing with concrete pilasters on either side of the central bay, which contains a 20th-century window. An arched cornice supports the cornice over the other bays, continuing horizontally.
