Description

North Lodge and an attached former stableblock, dating circa 1880 and built for ATT Peterson. The buildings are constructed of mass concrete in lifts, with a slate roof to the lodge.

The lodge is a single-story, three-by-two bay structure with a rear addition connecting it to a two-story, five-bay stableblock. The stableblock has projecting wings of full height to the second bay from each end on the yard side. The lodge's road-facing elevation features a central, square-plan porch with an arched opening on the front, over a moulded cornice that runs around the sides and arches over the front, following the line of the vaulted roof. A two-light casement window is to the left. High-set eaves cornices, representing the beginning of the original roofline, run down the sides. The roof is hipped, with a stack on the hip.

The stableblock's yard-facing side has a large opening to the central bays and two arched openings in the others. On the first floor, each bay contains a large and a smaller opening, presumably for sash windows. There is a moulded cornice above and a balustraded parapet. Inside both floors of the stableblock have self-supporting vaulted ceilings made of concrete.
