Description

Kings Huts are a group of cottages dating from 1908, believed to be designed by Lutyens. They were built as housing for estate workers and are arranged in three blocks around a central garden. Access is given via a wooden arch above the gate, bearing the date and name, which leads to a brick path and a stone trough. The cottages have roughcast facades, tiled roofs, and tile-hung gable ends. Each block is two storeys high with two windows and one gabled dormer. They feature early 19th-century style casement windows with glazing bars, and a central door to each block. The central block, which faces the entrance, has a large gable with a sundial positioned below. The Kings Huts are a group with the associated paths, trough and wooden arch.
