Description
Gas street lamps located on Holdenhurst and Throop Roads in Bournemouth were installed between 1902 and 1910. They were made by the Ringwood and Pokesdown Foundries, with lanterns supplied by Suggs. These lamps are crafted from cast iron and feature wrought-iron lanterns. They come in various designs, including reeded or plain shafts and pedestals, most adorned with wavy friezes. The lamps also have ladder bars and lanterns supported by wrought-iron scroll supports, topped with finials. Each lamp is equipped with individual governor boxes and remains in use as gas lamps. They were originally installed for the parish by the electricity company during the conversion of gas lamps in Bournemouth to electricity.
