Description
Magdalen Cottage is a single-storey thatched cottage, likely dating from the 16th century, located at the rear of No 17 in Holdenhurst Village. The south side features a half-timbered section with square panels and brick nogging, along with two casement windows. There is an eastward extension made of brick, built around 1830, which includes two lancet Gothick windows with diamond lattice glazing. The roof slopes down low at the rear, where there are two additional casement windows and a projecting windowless 'outshot'. The cottage has half-hipped gables and a chimney on the west gable. Magdalen Cottage, along with No 10 (New House), the New House stable, and No 17, forms a group of buildings.
