Description
Sugar Loaf Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has been altered over time. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a thatched roof that is half hipped at both ends, sweeping down over an outshot on the east side towards the road. There is a white painted brick stack located near the center of the building and a 2-light eaves dormer on the west side. The cottage is one storey with an attic and consists of two bays, with the northern bay reduced to a half bay. A modern door is situated in the south gable beneath a modern open thatched porch. There are small single light casements on the left and right sides, along with a 2-light window at the end of the outshot on the far right. An additional 2-light casement is found in the attic. The west side includes a modern door and a 3-light casement nearby. Inside, there is a large central stack with an inglenook fireplace and a chamfered beam with a carved stop, both located in the main room.
