Description

Applestraw Cottage is a house, originally two cottages, dating from the 17th century, with alterations made later. It is located in Weston Turville, on the east side of the West End. The house comprises two wings. The left-hand wing has a timber frame with colourwashed brick infilling, and a lower, modern tile roof with a hipped eaves dormer and a projecting chimney stack on the left. The right-hand wing is faced in 18th-century red and blue brick, with bands on the first floor, and has a thatched roof with a half-hipped gable. It features two brick chimneys. The right-hand wing has a door in the centre of its flank wall, with a single bay of casement windows to the right. The left-hand wing features modern casement windows and a canted bay window on the ground floor. A note indicates an error in previous Ordnance Survey mapping, which incorrectly labelled the property as number 20.
