Description

The former stable block at Harpton Court is a 19th-century, two-storey, L-plan building constructed from coursed rubble, topped with a hipped slate roof that features modern rooflights. The south wing has a drip-course that steps over the first-floor windows. This wing includes two Tudor arch openings; the left arch is chamfered with an impost, while the right arch is a plain design made of greyer stone, infilled with boarded double doors. The ground-floor openings are modern, and the first floor has round-headed mullions. The west wing showcases an arcade of four plain Tudor arches made of sandstone with stippled tooling, which are infilled with modern glazed panels. There is a timber mullion to the left with round-headed lights beneath a hood mould, and three modern windows on the first floor.

Adjacent to the stable yard is a detached block known as the former granary, now Granary Cottage. This two-storey structure, also from the 19th century, is built of coursed rubble and has a slate roof. It features rubble external steps and ground-floor openings that are set under voussoir lintels. The stable door includes an overlight, and the building has modern windows throughout. The stable yard is marked by gatepiers made of ashlar blocks on a plinth with flat caps.
