Description
This is a former granary, now a cottage, forming a detached block on the north-east side of the stable yard at Harpton Court. Dating to the 19th century, it is a two-storey, L-shaped building constructed of coursed rubble with a hipped slate roof. A drip-course steps over the first-floor windows on the south wing. This wing features two Tudor arched openings; the left one is chamfered with an impost, while the right is a plain arch in a lighter-coloured stone, supporting a boarded double door. The ground-floor openings are modern, while the first floor has round-headed mullioned windows. The west wing has a sandstone arcade of four plain Tudor arches, exhibiting stippled tooling, and is now infilled with modern glazed panels. A timber mullion window to the left of this arcade features round-headed lights under a hood mould, with three modern windows above. A separate set of rubble external steps leads to the ground floor. The ground floor openings are beneath voussoir lintels, and modern windows are present throughout. Finally, gatepiers to the stable yard consist of ashlar blocks set on a plinth and topped with flat caps.
