Description
Harpton Court is a three-storey neo-Tudor building from the later 19th century, constructed with snecked rubble facings and ashlar dressings. It features stepped gable ends and finials, along with two oriel bays and a two-storey canted corner block that forms the entrance hall. The east gable end has a drip-course that steps around a recessed panel, which displays an armorial plaque. The windows are chamfered multi-lights with large-paned horned sashes. To the north, there is a fragment of an earlier tower that includes battlements and machicolations, made from coursed rubble stone. This tower has a triple-shafted corner stack and a pyramid-capped lookout block, as well as loopholes and round-headed windows with hood moulds. In the early 19th century, various improvements were made to the now-demolished house for T Frankland Lewis by the architect John Nash.
