Description

South Park and Gatepiers is a late 19th century, two-storey and attic house with three bays and classical details, featuring a three-stage central entrance tower. The building is constructed from cream sandstone ashlar, with rubble on the sides and rear. It has a base course, cill courses, and a dividing band course for the ground and first floor windows in the outer bays, along with channelled outer quoins and strip quoins on the tower.

On the south (entrance) elevation, the tower has a corniced and balustraded parapet above a central porch at ground level, which is flanked by paired stylized Ionic columns and features a recessed two-leaf panelled door with a plate glass fanlight above. There is a single window in the second stage above the porch and a round-arched tripartite window in the third stage. The tower is topped with a dentilled cornice and a balustraded parapet with ball finials. The outer bays include a pedimented bay on the right with advanced windows, a bipartite window at ground level, and another above on the first floor, along with a carved roundel in the pediment. The outer left bay has a gabled design with a full-height, four-light canted window featuring a curvilinear parapet and a small circular window at the gablehead.

The windows are made of plate glass and timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and features piended and platformed sections, along with corniced wallhead stacks. The original rainwater goods are still in place.

The boundary walls consist of a low coped wall along the street with replacement railings. There are three corniced channelled gatepiers with fluted friezes and ball finials.
