Description
This is a house located at 39 Belvedere, dating from the early 19th century and featuring 20th-century alterations. The front is made of limestone ashlar, which is now painted, while the left side is constructed of rubble above the adjoining property at No. 38 Belvedere. The house has a mansard roof covered in concrete tiles, with a coped gable facing right against the adjoining No. 40 Belvedere. There is a large ashlar chimney stack with early clay pots on the right side.
The building is two storeys high, with an attic and a basement, and has a single window front. On the first floor, there are two horned sash windows in a splayed reveal, each with a stone sill and a 20th-century balconette. The attic features a similar small window in the gable. The ground floor has a similar window without a balconette on the right side. To the left, there is a six-panel door with fielded panels, a 20th-century overlight, and a slate step, all within a 20th-century timber doorcase that has console brackets supporting a hood. The basement includes a six-pane fixed light window in a plain reveal with a stone sill, partially above ground and with grating in the pavement. The building has a plinth, a moulded cornice, and a coped parapet at ridge level that continues with No. 40 Belvedere. On the left side, there is a single dormer with a four-pane casement window. The interior has not been inspected.
