Description
This is a semi-detached house, built around 1830, forming the right-hand half of an asymmetrical pair with number 48. The house is constructed of limestone ashlar, with a slate roof topped with a lead centre and a 20th-century dormer. Wide, moulded stacks flank the gable ends.
The house has a double-depth plan and features two windows on the front facade. An arched doorway is on the left, featuring a stone hood on consoles, a keystone and etched scrolls to the fanlight. The door itself is a six-panel design with tall upper panels and a circular moulding to the central panel. To the left of the door is a four/four-pane sash window. Below, a six/six pane sash window sits on the right of the ground floor, and a matching six/six pane sash window is on the first floor. A coped parapet runs along the front, rear and right return elevations, rising to meet the centre stack on the return elevation. A tall, blind arch sits on the flank of this chimneystack. The building has a cornice, a lintel frieze and a moulded ground floor platband. Architraves have recessed roll edges that run out at the base. The basement area has been covered over. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
