Description

A pair of symmetrical semi-detached houses, dating to circa 1825, overlooking the Kennet and Avon Canal to the rear. The houses are constructed of limestone ashlar with an unseen roof and moulded stacks to the party wall. They have a double-depth plan.

The two-storey and lower-ground-floor front has a symmetrical five-bay design, with projecting end bays featuring blind arch recesses containing doors. A blind arch and a blind first-floor window are present in the central bay, which sits on the party wall. A coped parapet, cornice, frieze, and first-floor sill band extend around the building. Number 45 on the right has two-over-one pane sash windows and a seven-panel door glazed to the top with circular panels in the centre. Number 46 has six-over-six pane sash windows and a six-panel door glazed to the top. The returns have blind windows except to the first floor rear, mirroring those at the front. The interiors have not been inspected. The elevation strongly resembles an unsigned design submitted to the Bathwick Estate Office in 1825.
