Description
The gate piers and boundary walls to No. 29 on Oldfield Road were built around 1840 and are made of ashlar stone. There are two pairs of gate piers. The main entrance features a pair of large square piers with a base, a frieze-band, and moulded capitals leading to high square blocking. To the left, there is a similar pair of piers that are the same height but smaller in girth. Between these piers, a wall made of large ashlar blocks extends the full width of the site and continues to No. 28 next door. The wall includes two swept steps that follow the slope of the road. These structures are important additions to the house and enhance the overall appearance of the street scene with the adjacent walls.
