Description
Hillhaven, located at 29 Oldfield Road, is a detached villa built around 1840. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof.
The villa has a compact block plan, with a gable that is brought forward on the right side. It stands two storeys high with a basement. The first floor has two single sash windows, while the ground floor has one sash window to the left of the entrance. Most of the windows are margin pane sashes, except for those on the ground floor and basement on the left side. To the right of the entrance, there is a triple sash window set in a wide octagonal bay, which has a pierced balustrade and a deep square sill band. The central window features a stone balconette supported by brackets, positioned above a two-panel door with a plain fanlight. This door is framed by a surround with a keystone and is accessed by seven nosed steps with solid balustrades. The exterior includes a plinth, alternating square raised quoins at the ground floor, plain pilasters above, a mid band, an eaves band, and capped ashlar stacks on the right and rear left. The return to the right has various lights, and the mid band continues along this side. To the left, there is a small two-storey extension, while the rear of the villa features two gables and a setback hipped centre, with paired and triple sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.
