Description
Nos 2 and 3 South Street are 17th-century, timber-framed buildings that stand two storeys high with an attic. The front is covered in stucco, with timber framing and brick infilling visible on the northern side. They have tiled roofs and feature a dentilled eaves cornice. The buildings include 19th-century dormers and four windows, which are mostly sash windows, though the glazing bars are missing. The shop fronts, also from the 19th century, have four projecting window bays and there is a continuous plinth at the base. These buildings are part of an important group with Nos 1 to 7 (odd) Blackhorse Way, The Manor House, the stables to the south, and Nos 24 to 31 (consecutive) Causeway. Additionally, Nos 1 to 4 (consecutive) South Street form a group with Nos 5 and 5A Middle Street.
