Description
Nos 6 and 10 Market Square are two timber-framed houses that date back to the 18th century. They are separated on the ground floor by a passage and have been refronted to present a uniform facade. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic and feature a total of six windows. The exterior is stuccoed, with an eaves cornice that includes modillions. Notably, the two windows on No 10 are larger than the others. All windows are sashes with intact glazing bars, although the ground floor has modern fronts. Both houses extend significantly into Talbot Lane or Court, where the original timber-framing with brick infilling can still be seen in the side walls. On the north wall at the corner of No 10, there is a wooden shutter or cupboard with hinges, marked "The Old Posting Box of Horsham." These houses, along with other listed buildings in Market Square, contribute to a significant group with the listed buildings in The Causeway and South Street.
