Description

Verandah Cottage is a 16th century or earlier timber-framed house located on Lower Street. It has two storeys and currently features three windows. The high-pitched, half-hipped tiled roof includes gablets above the hips, indicating that the roof may have been shortened and that the house was originally designed as an open hall. An off-centre ridge stack, which has been rebuilt, supports this theory. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is constructed of rubble with red brick dressings. The cottage has small 19th century and modern leaded casement windows.
