Description
Whinchat Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the early 16th century and was extended in the 17th century. It is timber framed and sits on a rubblestone plinth, with infill made of ironstone and red brick. The roof is plain tiled, half hipped to the left with a gablet, and features a rear ridge stack to the left of center, along with a large offset end stack to the right. The main front faces to the rear and the cottage has two storeys with three framed bays. The windows have irregular casement designs, with three on the first floor and one horizontal sliding sash to the right. There is a planked part-glazed door to the left end, which is sheltered by a pent tiled porch hood. Additionally, there is a catslide roof to the left end and a hipped roof extension at the rear right. Inside, extensive framing is visible.
