Description

Hookwood House is a late 18th-century house. It is constructed of colourwashed stucco over a rendered plinth, with a restored hipped roof covered in concrete tiles and rendered ridge stacks positioned left and right of centre. The house is two storeys high, with deep bracketed eaves. The front of the house has seven bays, with the central three bays projecting forward. It features 12-pane sash windows with projecting sills. A central six-panelled door is set within a panelled reveal and is topped by a traceried transom light and architrave surround. A Tuscan portico with two columns supporting a modillion cornice is positioned in front of the door. At the rear, a central bowed bay rises through two storeys, with tripartite sash windows to the outer ground floor bays, featuring pedimented central lights and paterae decoration. Internally, some original fireplaces and moulded doorcases remain.
