Description
Detillens Cottage, which includes No. 58 Detillens Lane, is a cottage dating from the 16th century with 20th-century additions. It features a timber frame set on a galleted rubblestone plinth, with whitewash brick infill above and tile hanging on the first floor. The roof is plain tiled with a large central ridge stack. The building has two storeys and a gable end facing the street. There is an attic leaded casement window in the gable, a five-light leaded casement window on the first floor beneath a shallow pent tiled porch, and two casement windows on the ground floor. To the left of centre is a planked part-glazed door, along with a further 20th-century stable style door in a single-storey brick extension to the left, which is sheltered by an open gabled porch hood. The right-hand return front, facing Detillens Lane, has square panel framing exposed with curved end bracing to the left and two framed bays. Inside, the framing is visible, along with a purlin and windbrace roof.
