Description
Folly Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the 17th century. It features square-panelled timber framing with rendered and painted brick infill set on a limestone plinth. The cottage has a thatched roof with brick stacks and a rectangular plan for the main body. There is a single-storey extension with a pantile roof and a lean-to at the entrance front and right gable end, which are not of special interest.
The main body has 1½ storeys, an eyebrow dormer, and a 3-light metal casement window. The ground floor includes a two-light metal casement window with horizontal glazing bars and shutters, as well as a studded plank door with fillets located within the lean-to porch at the entrance front. At the rear, there is a single eyebrow dormer with a 3-light metal casement, a four-light wooden casement, and 20th-century French doors featuring horizontal glazing bars. The left gable end has a large projecting stack with a 20th-century shaft, while the right gable end has a projecting corner stack and is half-hipped. The interior has not been inspected.
