Description
48 and 50 Detillens Lane are two cottages that are now under one ownership, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of sandstone and ironstone rubble, accented with red brick dressings, while the first floor is tile-hung. The building features a tiled roof with a central chimney and stands two storeys high, with four windows. The wooden casements have leaded lights and some are fitted with pintle hinges. There is one plank door and one 20th-century door. The ground floor windows and doors have cambered heads. Inside, there is a central brick chimney, exposed floor joists, a partition wall with diagonal braces, plank doors with iron hinges, and a first-floor fireplace that includes a mid-19th century basket grate. The staircase is from the 20th century, and some beams have been renewed.
