Description

Pebble Hill House, built around 1776 for Edward Gresham, is a substantial house with a rear Rangers Cottage. The main house is constructed of colourwashed stucco over a rendered plinth, with hipped slate roofs and rendered chimney stacks to the left and rear right. It is two storeys high, featuring a plat band over the ground floor parapet of the central block, which is five bays wide and bowed. The first floor has six glazing bar sash windows. A central semi-circular portico, supported by three piers with moulded corners, provides access to the front door, which is set within an architrave surround with a dentilled band leading to a fanlight. The return fronts of the house are also bowed, with curved glazing bar sash windows. Extensions to the rear incorporate the Rangers Cottage. The interior retains some fireplaces in the Adam style.
