Description
Forge Cottages is a row of cottages dating to the late 17th century, with extensions added in the 18th century. The central and left-hand sections have a timber frame exposed, with whitewashed brick cladding below and brick infill above. The right-hand section is of rubblestone with brick dressings, and has tile hanging above. The roofs are tiled, with ridge stacks positioned to the left and right of the centre. The cottages are two storeys high, featuring four leaded casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor windows to the right and centre are camber-headed. A planked door is to the left (No. 4), a half-glazed door is to the left of centre, sheltered by a shallow flat porch hood (No. 3), a boarded door is to the right of centre (No. 2), and a 20th-century part-glazed, studded door is to the right end, also under a cambered head (No. 1).
