Description
This is a post located at the edge of Littlebank Wood, dating from around 1860. It stands approximately 3.5 feet high and features a metal four-legged plinth with a chamfered pier above. The post has a moulded capital band and a pyramidal top. On the front, there is a cast City of London shield with lettering below on the pier that reads "24 & 25/VICT.CAP.42". This post served as a Coal and Wine tax marker, indicating the boundary at which duty was payable, with the coal tax dating back to the 1660s.
