Description
This milestone, dating from around 1840, is located on the west side of the A22, approximately 400 meters south of the junction with Ray Lane (B2029) and opposite Blindley Heath. It marks the distance of 25 miles from London on the former Eastbourne Road.
The milestone is made of stone and has a rectangular shape, standing about 0.9 meters tall and measuring 0.25 meters in width and depth. It is roughly hewn from a single piece of stone, featuring straight sides and a flat top. The visible face is inscribed with the words: 25 / MILES / FROM / CORNHILL.
