Description
The Former Blue Anchor Inn is a public house dating from the 16th century, with 19th and 20th-century additions and restoration. The building features a timber frame with whitewashed render cladding at the bottom and painted weatherboard above. It has a plain tiled roof with ridge stacks on both the left and right of the center, as well as an end stack on the right. The structure is two storeys high, with a gabled cross wing and an outshot on the right end. There are five casement windows on the first floor, including one in the gable. A panelled door leads down three steps to the left end, and there is another door on the left side of the gabled wing. To the left end, there is a single-storey brick extension, and to the right, there is an addition that connects to a whitewashed brick block from the 20th century. At the rear, there is a catslide roof on the right and a gabled wing that runs at right angles to the front on the left. Inside, some of the framing is visible, although it has been restored.
