Description

The Red Barn is a house that has been converted into an inn. It originated as a 15th-century hall house with 17th-century additions. The building features a timber frame clad in red brick at the lower level and tile hanging above. It has a plain tiled roof at both ends and Horsham slabs at the center front. There are stacks at the right end and a ridge stack located to the right of the center. The structure is two stories high, with a dentil band over the ground floor. The first floor has three sash windows, and there is a casement window to the left of center. A planked door is situated to the right of center, sheltered by a pent roof porch supported by wooden posts. At the rear, there are wings at right angles and 20th-century extensions made of brick.

Inside, there is an inserted brick stack dated 1689, which has "WBI" cut into the brickwork and features a wooden lintel. The attic contains a crown post roof, and the ground floor has chamfered ceiling beams.
