Description
Ray Lodge Farm House is a late 17th and early 18th century house, with an early 19th century extension to the right. The original section to the left has a timber frame construction using thin timbers, set on a brick plinth, with rendered infill panels and a stepped, plain tiled roof. The central and right-hand sections are of incised rendered brick, with a plain tiled roof to the centre and a hipped slate roof to the right. The house has a central chimney house with wings extending to the northwest (left) and to the southeast (right).
To the left end, the house is two storeys and three bays wide, featuring one blocked window and one leaded casement on the first floor. The central section is one storey and has an attic, with a plat band over the ground floor and two eaves windows under the gables; it has three-light leaded casements on the ground floor. The right end is two storeys high, with one blocked window on the first floor and two blocked windows below. A planked door is located to the left of the centre.
The return front on the right side of the house has a Tuscan portico with two columns at ground floor centre. The house was undergoing restoration at the time of the re-survey.
