Description
The Old House is a house dating from the 15th and 17th centuries. It features exposed timber framing with whitewashed brick and rendered infill at the front, a rubblestone and brick plinth, and whitewashed cladding at the rear. The first floor is tile hung on the right side. The house has steeply pitched hipped roofs covered with plain tiles and end gablets, along with a large brick stack positioned to the right of the center. Originally a hall house, it has two storeys with irregular window placement, including three diamond pane casement windows on the first floor and a 5-light diagonal mullioned window to the left of center. There is a ribbed triangular head door located at the left end. At the rear, there are three gabled dormer windows through the eaves, one casement window on the first floor to the right, and four casement windows on the ground floor. A triangular head door is set in a pent roof porch to the left of center. Inside, considerable framing is visible, featuring coupled and collar roof construction, and an older plaster chimney surrounds a new 17th-century chimney.
