Description

Bricklands Farm House, now divided, dates to the 15th century with a 16th-century inserted stack. The house is timber-framed and sits on a brick and stone plinth. The lower parts are clad in red and blue brick, while the upper parts are tile-hung, some in a fishscale pattern. It has a steep-pitched plain tiled roof with gable ends. A tall, rectangular chimney stack is located to the left of centre, with a further stack at the right end. Originally a hall house, the building is two storeys high with an attic space lit by two gabled dormers with casement windows. The windows are regularly spaced, with four casements on each floor. A part-glazed door is situated to the left of centre, sheltered by a gabled hood supported by brackets. A 20th-century brick extension with a leaded casement window and a rear door is attached to the left. A boarded, double-pitched roof garage is located at the right end. The interior reveals exposed timber framing, and a 17th-century staircase remains.
