Description
This milestone, dating from around 1840, is located on the west side of the A22, approximately 200 meters north of the junction with Harts Lane. It marks a distance of 22 miles from London on the former Eastbourne Road.
The milestone is made of stone and has a rectangular shape, standing about 0.6 meters tall and measuring 0.25 meters in width and depth. It is roughly carved from a single piece of stone, featuring straight sides and a flat top. The visible face is inscribed with the text: 22 / MILES / FROM / CORNHILL.
