Description
Posterngate Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with 19th-century extensions. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick cladding at the bottom and tile hanging above. The roof is plain tiled, hipped with a gablet at the left end, and has a large ridged stack with a tile buttress at the rear on the left, along with a smaller stack to the right of center. The building has two storeys and displays five 20th-century leaded casement windows across the first floor. There is a planked and studded door at the right end and a small pentice roof extension at the left end. At the rear, there is a single-storey wing to the left with a catslide extension left of center. Inside, extensive timber framing is visible, with close studding on the ground floor left. Ceiling frames can be seen, and there is a deep brick fireplace with a wooden lintel at the left end.
