Description
The Fox and Hounds Public House is a public house that dates back to the 16th century, with renovations from the 19th century. It features a timber frame set on a brick plinth, with whitewashed brick infill below. The upper part of the building is adorned with fishscale tile hanging, and it has a plain tiled roof that is half hipped, complete with a large rebuilt ridge stack positioned to the right of the center. The structure has two storeys and displays saw-tooth brick moulding across the first floor, which contains three casement windows. There is a planked door to the left of the center, sheltered by a pentice roofed porch hood supported by brackets, and another door under a similar hood at the right end. To the left, there is a brick extension with a pentice roof. The right-hand return front reveals exposed square panel framing, while the rear features a single-storey 20th-century brick wing that is set at right angles to the front. Inside, the framing is visible although restored, and there is a deep brick fireplace.
